1. Acceptance

These Terms of Use ("Terms") govern access to the Mirror Reader mobile application, website, cloud services, content, and support (collectively, the "Service"). By downloading, accessing, or using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

The Privacy Policy, Apple's applicable App Store terms, Apple's Standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement, StoreKit subscription terms, and feature-specific notices also apply where relevant.

2. Apple App Store Terms

Apple processes App Store downloads, StoreKit purchases, billing, refunds, taxes, and official transaction history under Apple's terms. These Terms supplement Apple's terms and govern Mirror Reader accounts, cloud features, content, and subscriptions. Apple's terms control where Apple or applicable law requires.

3. Eligibility

You may use the Service only if you can form a binding agreement and comply with applicable law. Mirror Reader is not directed to children under 13. A user below the age of majority must use the Service with a parent or legal guardian where required.

4. Accounts and Sign-In

Guest mode creates a cloud-backed anonymous account. Registered sign-in methods can include Sign in with Apple, an email code or link, and email with password. Availability may vary by platform or release.

You are responsible for your device, password, sign-in email, and activity under your account. Do not share review, personal, or subscription credentials with unauthorized people. Third-party authentication services are governed by their own terms and may be unavailable independently of Mirror Reader.

5. Service Description

Mirror Reader provides reading and language-learning features, including:

A user-provided text may be a book, document, article, note, study material, or another supported text. Feature, language, model, and content availability may differ by app version, device, region, subscription, and service health.

We may add, remove, change, suspend, or discontinue features to improve quality, security, compliance, or operations.

6. Catalog Books and Source Materials

Mirror Reader includes works we believe are public domain or otherwise lawfully usable. Public-domain status can differ by country, edition, translation, illustration, and source. We do not guarantee that every component is public domain in every jurisdiction.

Source information is provided for transparency, not endorsement. You are responsible for determining whether reuse outside the Service is lawful.

7. Mirror Reader Content

Generated covers, translations, alignments, formatting, metadata, collections, interface design, software, and learning materials can be protected independently from an underlying public-domain work. Mirror Reader and its licensors retain all rights to the extent permitted by law.

You may not scrape, bulk download, redistribute, sell, publish, repackage, or use Mirror Reader content to build a competing database, product, model, or service unless these Terms or applicable law permit it.

8. User-Provided Texts

Creator users can upload, paste, import, store, translate, align, and read their own texts ("User Content"). You retain any rights you hold in User Content.

You grant Mirror Reader a limited, worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to host, copy, extract, process, translate, align, format, transmit, cache, display, synchronize, secure, troubleshoot, and delete User Content solely as reasonably needed to provide and operate the Service and as described in the Privacy Policy.

You represent that:

Do not upload sensitive, confidential, regulated, or third-party content unless you understand the provider flow and have an appropriate legal basis. Mirror Reader may reject, remove, suspend, or delete User Content that creates security, legal, capacity, or rights risk.

Deleting a user-provided text is intended to remove its active cloud package and generated language layers. Account deletion is described in the Privacy Policy and Data Deletion page.

9. AI and Model Providers

Translations, alignments, covers, and learning content can be generated or assisted by automated systems. Dynamic preparation of User Content can send needed text fragments and instructions through an AI routing intermediary to a selected or automatically routed model provider.

Model providers have different retention, training, safety-review, location, and deletion rules. Mirror Reader does not promise that every request uses a Zero Data Retention endpoint. Review the provider-category disclosures in the Privacy Policy before uploading material.

AI output can contain errors, omissions, mistranslations, invented details, cultural inaccuracies, or unsuitable language. It is not an official, certified, publisher-approved, academic, legal, medical, financial, or professional translation. Do not rely on it as the sole basis for a high-stakes decision.

10. Pronunciation Feedback

Eligible users learning English can optionally submit a short recording for automated pronunciation assessment. The recording leaves the device and is processed in parallel by a third-party cloud speech-analysis provider and a Mirror Reader-operated phonetic-analysis service. Their results are estimates and can be wrong because of accent, microphone quality, background noise, speech variation, model limitations, or network availability.

Pronunciation scores and phoneme feedback are learning aids, not clinical, medical, accessibility, speech-therapy, employment, academic, or certification assessments. Do not use them to diagnose or treat a condition or to make a high-stakes decision.

Microphone use is optional. Audio handling is described in the Privacy Policy.

11. Learning Features

Scores, progress indicators, vocabulary lists, recommendations, and assessments are general educational tools. They are not official language credentials, examination results, or guarantees of proficiency.

12. License to Use the Service

Subject to these Terms, Mirror Reader grants you a limited, personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, non-sublicensable, revocable license to use the Service for personal reading and language learning. No ownership of the Service, software, catalog, generated content, or Mirror Reader intellectual property is transferred.

13. Restrictions

You must not:

We may investigate, limit, suspend, or terminate suspected violations.

14. Premium and Creator Subscriptions

Mirror Reader offers auto-renewable subscriptions through Apple StoreKit:

The App Store purchase sheet controls the actual price, currency, trial eligibility, billing period, and renewal terms. Unless Apple states otherwise, subscriptions renew automatically until canceled through Apple at least 24 hours before the end of the current period.

Deleting a Mirror Reader account, deleting the app, or losing account access does not cancel an Apple subscription. Manage or cancel it in Apple's subscription settings.

Feature and usage limits can apply by plan, including upload size, number of texts, request count, processing capacity, or language/model availability. Limits can change prospectively, subject to law and App Store requirements.

15. Refunds

Apple generally handles refunds for App Store purchases. Mirror Reader does not control Apple's refund decisions or processing time. These Terms do not limit non-waivable consumer rights.

16. Privacy

The Privacy Policy explains data collection, user-provided text processing, AI routing and model-provider differences, transient pronunciation audio, DeviceCheck, retention, and account deletion. You are responsible for having the right to submit any information or User Content.

17. Third-Party Services

The Service relies on Apple and on categories of providers that include authentication, database, hosting, content-delivery, storage, network-security, AI-routing, model, and cloud speech-analysis services. It also uses a Mirror Reader-operated phonetic-analysis service. Each provider or service can have separate terms, privacy rules, availability, and technical limitations.

Mirror Reader is not responsible for independent third-party services outside its control. Links are provided for convenience and transparency and do not imply endorsement.

18. Copyright and Content Complaints

If you believe catalog content or User Content infringes your rights, contact [email protected] with enough information to identify the material, the rights claimed, your contact details, and the requested action. We may investigate, disable, remove, or preserve material as law requires. False or abusive notices can have legal consequences.

19. Feedback

If you submit ideas, corrections, bug reports, feature requests, or other feedback, you grant Mirror Reader a perpetual, irrevocable, worldwide, royalty-free right to use and adapt that feedback without compensation or attribution. Do not include confidential information or material you lack the right to share.

20. Availability and Changes

The Service is provided over networks and third-party infrastructure. We do not guarantee uninterrupted, error-free, secure, or universal availability. AI routes, model providers, speech-analysis services, catalog storage, or authentication can be unavailable.

We may update, restrict, or discontinue features and may change provider, model, limit, or content configuration. We are not responsible for loss caused by device failure, network or provider outage, account deletion, user error, subscription expiration, or events outside our reasonable control, except where law requires otherwise.

21. Account Deletion and Termination

You may stop using the Service or delete a guest or registered account from Profile. Account deletion is intended to be permanent and does not cancel Apple billing.

We may suspend or terminate access for violations, legal requirements, security risk, abuse, infringement, or interference. Provisions that by their nature should survive termination continue, including intellectual-property, payment, disclaimer, liability, indemnity, and dispute terms.

22. Disclaimers

To the maximum extent permitted by law, the Service is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, title, non-infringement, accuracy, availability, reliability, security, or compatibility.

We do not warrant the accuracy, legality in every jurisdiction, or suitability of catalog material, User Content processing, AI output, pronunciation feedback, learning results, or subscription access. Mandatory rights remain unaffected.

23. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Mirror Reader and its owners, operators, affiliates, contractors, licensors, and providers will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, punitive, or enhanced damages, or for lost profit, revenue, data, goodwill, access, or business interruption arising from the Service.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, total liability for a claim will not exceed the greater of the amount paid for the Service during the 12 months before the event or USD 100. This does not limit liability that cannot legally be limited.

24. Indemnity

Where permitted by law, you agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless Mirror Reader and its owners, operators, affiliates, contractors, licensors, and providers from claims and costs arising from your misuse of the Service, violation of these Terms or law, infringement of rights, or User Content. Mirror Reader may control the defense, and you agree to cooperate.

25. Governing Law and Consumer Rights

Except where mandatory local law provides otherwise, these Terms are governed by the law applicable where Mirror Reader is primarily operated. Disputes will be heard by a court with jurisdiction. Mandatory consumer rights and rights to use another forum remain unaffected.

26. International Use, Export, and Sanctions

You are responsible for compliance with local law, export controls, and sanctions. We do not represent that every feature or item is lawful or available everywhere.

27. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms and the date above. We will provide additional notice when law requires. Continued use after the effective date means acceptance; otherwise stop using the Service.

28. General Terms

These Terms and incorporated policies are the agreement about the Service. If a provision is unenforceable, the remainder stays effective. Failure to enforce is not a waiver. You may not assign these Terms without consent; Mirror Reader may assign them with a business transfer or by law. Headings are for convenience.
